Famous Ships: Raptrix (Battlegroup Noir)
Notes:
A ship design born out of desperation. The Vectrix class of ships were a result of efforts to try and provide additional carrier support to Battlefleet Gothic's hard-pressed battle lines toward the end of the war. The design met limited success. A modified Gothic cruiser, the Vectrix removes lance batteries Quintus through Octo and replaces them with flight decks and associated support space. The ship suffers similar problems to the Gothic class and must always be supported by other cruisers or escorts. Severely under-gunned, it does fufill the role of pirate hunter/deep space patrol well and allowed fleet-admirals to redirect their heavier carriers such as the Mars class to other front-line duties. It is also one of the few ship designs dedicated within Battlefleet Gothic to carry troops for assault. The first Vectrix, Raptrix was launched from Vindalex Orbital in 148.M41 and was created from the hulk of the Gothic class cruiser Shinman's Hope.
